Aim
The aim of this session is to help participants acquire the necessary awareness required for dealing with the implications of living and working in a multi-ethnic society.
Learning Outcomes
- Increased awareness regarding ethnic diversity and its implication in their workplace
- Familiarity with key terms and definitions
- Understanding of different approaches to the integration of minority ethnic groups, including refugees, asylum seekers, Roma and other categories
- Appreciation of the power relationships between majority and minority ethnic groups
- Comprehension of communication issues in relation to people of different cultures
- Exploring the legal and policy framework in relation to interculturalism in Ireland
- Acquiring tools, methods, ideas and examples of good practice
